5 Best Dewy Foundations for Airbrushed, Flawless Looking Skin

I’m not a heavy foundation wearer but I love that ‘no makeup, makeup look’ that’s fresh and flawless. You know, like an IRL Instagram filter.

Skincare is very personal, so there’s no one-size-fits all approach when it comes to foundation. Understanding your skin type is important when trying to find the right products. First things first- do you prefer matte or dewy formulas?

DEWY FOUNDATION:

Think hydration. Dewy foundations contain oil and light reflective ingredients that give your skin a major glow factor. If your skin is on the drier side, you want to stick to dewy formulas because it will create more youthful looking skin- bc we don’t want foundation creasing in your smile lines. What I love most is that it’s really easy to blend and slides on silky smooth without looking caky. For the glassiest application, I damp my beauty blender and follow the golden rule: wet, squeeze, bounce.

MATTE FOUNDATION:

Ideal for providing full coverage, especially on oily skin types. Matte foundations, as its name implies, are meant to give keep your skin looking matte throughout the day. Matte foundations work best for neutralizing excessive shine, so if you’re someone that uses oil blotting sheets, this is better for your skin type. The cons of matte foundation on drier skin types (like mine) is it makes your face look dehydrated and accentuates fine lines and peach fuzz.

I realized the trick to my best skin is using super lightweight foundations with hydrating ingredients. Dewy foundations are like drinking from the fountain of youth.
